If creating a new thing is one of your hobbies and you always want to indulge yourself with the best of the food then you must also be a fan of baked food products.

There are already so many bakers in the town and its easy to grab your favorite delicacy but its always fun to take the baking charge yourself as the process is very interesting so bring on your baking skills.

  1. One of the first and essential things is to make your baking powder and baking soda requirements. Make separate containers and mark them accordingly so that you are assured about the quality in every baking session of yours.
  2. Make sure to check your oven temperature beforehand. Get yourself an oven thermometer. Pop it in before placing the baked thing, and then adjust as needed.
  3. If a cake recipe calls for butter, make sure that you keep it at almost room temperature, but slightly cooler. As it’ll warm up when mixed and you will get the desired result.
  4. Among other preparations it is always a help to prepare baking pans, so you don’t waste time making the perfect cake, only to have it stuck on the pan later.
  5. When adding chocolate chips or fruit bits into your cake batter, coat them with flour it will help keep them from sinking to the bottom of the pan and keep your baked item better.
  6. Never substitute baking soda and baking powder. They aren’t exactly interchangeable. You’ll use soda when an acid is added to the batter like lemon, buttermilk etc. Baking soda is much stronger, so don’t try putting them out equally.
  7. Do not forget to freeze your baked cakes. If you do it the right way, you won’t get freezer burn and it will be difficult to identify that the baked stuff has been frozen.
  8. If the recipe requires cake flour and you don’t have any, don’t worry you can make your own in just a few seconds. For each cup of cake flour you need, take out two tablespoons of flour and add in two tablespoons of cornstarch and mix the two well.
  9. Leaving the oven light ON while baking is not a great idea. Some ovens may have different functioning, but it seems to brown cake layers exposing to that side of the oven.
  10. Ok, this step is an overrated one but you can forget the basic step in some cases, remember to preheat that oven. Make sure it’s fully preheated before you get that cake in there.
